About Chef D


Chef D has been cooking for several years and first encountered food when...

A young Chef D a couple years shy of his first decade alive. Did the unthinkable and demanded food from his mum in torn joggers and scuffed trainers. 


To which she replied, as politely as any British Nigerian mum could,  sit and watch me cook every time she cooked.

Chef D was initially disheartened by the by being torn between stuck in the kitchen while his friends played football.

However, an inadvertent love grew towards food everything about it  from reading the magazine recipe cards and cooking shows, but African food was hardly ever seen.


Fast forward a decade and some change, Chef D's passion and drive to bring West African and Caribbean fusion food to everyone was the mission but football came first. Chef D studied football studies and business at Southampton Solent University, while there Chef D would post his meals on Instagram and would get loads of praise and requests to start a take away or have his own restaurant.


So Chef D started doing take aways, he had some success but his food was only had local reach and was not giving Chef Diaries the exposure he wanted.

Chef D took a break for a few year then embarked on corporate life in management, while the burning desire to bring fine dining African food to everybody remained.

This is when the branding of D's Chef Diaries (DCD) took more effect, Chef D got his business logo made and began another chapter

Pop up restaurants and DCD came  around with the aim to build the brand and so Chef D held several pop ups in and around east London, and the Midlands.

Consummate professional. Called to arrange menu and discussed preferences. Arrived on time with some food already prepped. Was polite and well presented and appropriate. Best of all the food was delicious. He tidied up so well after finishing that the only memory we had was of a full belly. Will use again
